We recently toured across Scandinavia and the Baltics. On our travels they found a few great restaurants and The Salmon in Oslo, Norway was one we won’t forget in a hurry.
It was a warm day all be it a little over cast but walking by the water we stumbled upon The Salmon. With it being lunch time and with the ocean providing a picturesque backdrop we decided to go in and see what they had to offer on their lunch menu. We were greeted by a very friendly professional waitress who asked if we wanted to sit inside or out, we decided given the gorgeous ocean view, we would sit outside.
The service was very quick, personable and professional. We asked what the waitress would recommend and she suggested the Salmon
The food arrived after about a ten-minute wait which flew by as we soaked in the views with a glass of white wine.
The Salmon dish was beautiful and showcased the fish beautifully, it consisted of cold smoked, hot smoked and cured salmon. It was clear that this dish was created to celebrate all things salmon, very no-nonsense focusing on the freshness of the ingredients.
The oysters were fresh and presented exactly how you would expect, they were served with lemon wedges and no vinegar.
The smoked shrimps were amazing and you were given a very healthy portion, they again were served as they come, clearly showcasing the freshness of the ingredients.
Overall we had a fantastic meal, the freshness of the food along with the ocean views and great hospitality meant the whole experience was a pleasure.
Three words to describe this meal – Fresh, brilliantly simplistic.
Would you recommend to a friend – Absolutely! If you love seafood, in particular salmon, then this restaurant needs to be a pit stop if you ever visit Oslo.
